The casino review team and who writes what

Our casino review team is small enough that you can see exactly who stands behind each review. The team has 6 members, each with a profile page. Everyone writes under a pen name.

Casino reviews rotate between three casino reviewers, so no single person reviews every operator. A test means the reviewer opens a real account, makes a deposit, plays and requests a withdrawal, and the review is written from that test. A casino listed before its test is finished shows "Not tested yet" until it is done. Two editors write the guides, the monthly casino news and the slot pages.

The profiles deliberately claim no degrees, employers or social accounts. We would rather you judge the casino reviewers by whether their reviews hold up when you check them than by credentials you could not verify.

Who checks every page before it is published

Every page goes through the editor-in-chief before publication, whoever wrote it. The editor-in-chief is Kaisa Vartiainen, who also signs the front page and the site pages.

The check covers more than spelling. It looks at whether the facts on the page match what the reviewer recorded during testing, whether bonus terms still match the terms on the casino site, and whether any claim goes further than the test supports. Reviews, guides, news and slot pages therefore have two people behind them: the writer and the editor who checked the page.

Independence from affiliate income

Velatonmies is paid by casino operators when readers sign up through our links. That is how the site is funded, and it is stated plainly on our methodology page next to the scoring rules.

Ratings are not for sale. An operator cannot pay for a higher score or a softer review, and every casino is rated with the same weighting of payout speed, bonus terms, account experience, the licence, and the game library. A casino that pays a lot per sign-up is scored exactly like one that pays little.

That is also why the casino reviews report what went badly in testing as well as what went well. A slow withdrawal or an unclear bonus term is information you need before you deposit, and leaving it out would serve the operator rather than you.

Corrections and how to report an error

Bonus terms, payment methods and licences change, and a review can fall behind. When an error is found, the page is corrected and checked again by the editor-in-chief before the change goes live.
