The interesting studios do not compete on RTP, the number is capped by regulation in most markets, and every serious studio publishes 96%-ish figures. They compete on the shape. Studios are licensed separately from the operators that run them. The community loves them and moderate players lose money on them; both are true. If a studio was going to become a personality on Twitch and Kick, it was going to be this one.

Nolimit City

The mechanical-innovation studio. xNudge, xBet, xWays, every game has a proprietary feature that ships nowhere else. Extreme volatility, huge maximum wins, base game deliberately dead. San Quentin and Mental became notorious for bans in several markets over subject matter, which is itself a studio fingerprint: no other studio in this industry ships games that get banned.

NetEnt (Evolution)

Ownership matters here: NetEnt is now inside the Evolution group, which also owns Red Tiger and makes many of the best-known live-dealer games, Lightning Roulette and Crazy Time among them. Starburst is fourteen years old and still in more lobbies than any other game. The studio ships less than it used to; the legacy titles it already shipped are the reason it is still on every operator's roster.

Two features to know because they change the maths more than most players realise.

Bonus buys

The player pays a multiple of the base stake, commonly 60–100x, to skip straight to the bonus round. The studio calibrates the buy price so the RTP over many buys matches or slightly exceeds the base-game RTP; casinos with strict compliance regimes disable the feature entirely. When a bonus buy is disabled at a specific operator (Sweden, UK), that is the operator's choice, not the studio's, the same game with the same code runs elsewhere with buys enabled.

Progressive jackpot networks

A few games are linked across every operator that runs them, and the jackpot pool grows from stakes at all of them.
